All Chinese entering the U. S. were quarantined and interrogated at this detention center on Angel Island in San Francisco
bay. As many immigrants had false documents and were 'paper sons',the interrogations were exceedingly detailed. Those who
could not answer the numerous and detailed questions to the satisfaction of officers were deported.
